Frequently Asked Questions

The essentials about how Echo works.

How secure is my letter?
Your letter is encrypted the moment you hit send. It is stored within Swiss datacenters for privacy and data compliance.
How is my letter printed to ensure privacy?
Your letter is printed in a secure, automated facility in Switzerland. The entire process (from decryption to printing, enveloping, and sealing) is machine-orchestrated.
How far into the future can I send my letter?
You can schedule your Echo to be delivered up to 5 years into the future. You control the timeline.
How much does it cost?
The price depends on how far into the future you schedule delivery. There are two options: up to one year ahead (CHF 7.90) and up to five years ahead (CHF 12.90), which also includes optional release by someone you trust. Each is a one-time fee covering encrypted storage, printing, and Swiss Post delivery - no subscription needed. See our pricing page for the full breakdown.
Do I need a subscription?
No. An Echo is a one-time purchase. You pay once when you write your letter, which covers encrypted storage, printing, and Swiss Post delivery on your chosen date. There are no recurring fees. However, there are select additional special features that do require a subscription.
Someone gave me a release code — what do I do?
Someone chose you to start release for their letters. When the time is right, go to startecho.ch/start, and enter the code they shared. You do not need an Echo account. One code releases every letter in their account that is waiting for release.
